In a city known for wealth and power, some kids still sleep on
the street. Tell Mayor Bloomberg to stop cutting services for homeless kids!
Right now, there are nearly 4,000 youth who are homeless and alone in New York City. Sadly, lack of funding for support services means that these kids often have nowhere to turn. Yet unbelievably, the Mayor has directed the city's service agencies to reduce their budgets by over 5% on top of initial cuts. Tell Mayor Bloomberg to stop cutting services for homeless kids. Agencies serving homeless kids fought against these cuts for months. They thought they had maintained full funding until the city tricked them with a back-room administrative procedure out of public view. As the weather turns colder, need is increasing. New York City needs better funded support services for homeless youth. Tell Mayor Bloomberg it’s unacceptable to balance budgets on the backs of vulnerable youth.
