Move to amend -- take action now

The National Campaign to End Corporate Personhood and Demand Real Democracy!
Move to Amend

Thanks to everyone who wrote to the co-sponsors of Senate Joint Resolution 19 to ask them to support language that overturns corporate constitutional rights, rather than merely granting government authority over campaign spending.
On June 18 the Amendment discussion is scheduled for a debate and vote on language in the Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Human Rights -- please contact the committee members today.

We cannot allow a proposal that doesn’t address corporate constitutional rights to get traction -- the amendment must match the demand of our movement: “A Corporation is Not a Person! Money is Not Free Speech!”

Click here to send a message to the members of the Subcommittee letting them know that abolishing corporate constitutional rights must be part of the amendment language.
Then, please call the offices of these Senators so that your message is sure to get their attention. Tell them:
At the 28th Amendment "mark-up" on June 18, please vote to include language to the amendment to make clear that only human beings have constitutional rights -- not artificial entities created by government.

New York’s Animal Population Control Program (APCP) is successfully helping communities manage homeless animal populations by funding spay/neuter for pets of low-income residents.

Unfortunately, programs that help feral—or “community”—cats by humanely trapping, spaying or neutering, and then vaccinating before returning these cats safely back to their neighborhoods are currently ineligible to receive these life-saving funds.

Thanks to advocates like you, the New York State Assembly has passed critical legislation that would remedy this by allowing APCP funds for Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs across Upstate New York and Long Island. In order for this bill to become law, we urgently need your help encouraging the Senate to pass it before the New York Legislature adjourns for the year on Thursday!

What You Can Do

Community cats are counting on you! Please visit the ASPCA Advocacy Center today to contact your state senator in Albany and ask him or her to vote yes on this critical bill before the end of session.

Thank you for acting fast, New York!
